Q Do I need any previous experience?
A No Both Level 1 & 2 are suitable for complete novices.
Q I don't own a boat at the moment can I still attend a course?
A Most definitely YES we run courses in our fully equipped 5.5m XS- RIB or our 5m Humber attack.
Q Do you cover GPS?
A Yes "Blue C" and "C" Hornet are equipped with the latest Navigation aids and Sonar.
Q Why should I take an RYA or BSAC course?
A You will benefit from the knowledge that you obtain on the course. This covers navigation, weather, tides and High and Low speed boat handling. You may also benefit from preferential insurance rates.
Q Is there a minimum age for your courses?
A YES Level 1 has a minimum age of 8 and Level 2 has a minimum age of 12.
Q Can I use a marine VHF radio without a Licence?
A NO it is illegal to use marine VHF without an SRC certificate and Authority to operate. Unless under direct supervision of a licensed operator.
Q I'm rather shy and get embarrassed. Do you hold one to one courses?
A YES both our power boating and VHF courses are available on a one to one basis.
Q What is an ICC?
A The International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is a certificate recognised in Europe. Rather like an international driving licence for boats.
Q Do you run ICC courses.
A YES our Powerboat Level 2 course leads to the ICC which is issued by the RYA on presentation of your level 2 certificate. We also run one day ICC direct assessments. Additionally the BSAC Diver Cox'n assessment leads to the ICC also.
Q Do you Run BSAC SDC's for clubs??
A Yes clubs are most welcome we have instructors who are divers and are aware of the Club environment
Q I've read that your Level 1, 2 and BSAC courses include packed lunch that can't be right can it?
A Yes our course price does include lunch! (We do Breakfasts too at extra cost.)
Q I own my own boat I can't use that for a course can I?
A YES we run own boat tuition courses and in fact encourage clients to bring to use them.
Q I'm a BSAC diver can I get a Boat Handling SDC?
A YES by taking either the BSAC BH SDC or our RYA Level 2 course, you benefit from being eligible for both the ICC and BSAC boat handling certificate.
Q Does my BSAC Boat Handling SDC allow me to have a RYA level 2
A No BSAC are not recognised by the RYA to issue Level 1 or 2 Certificates
Q Will I get discount on my insurance?
A Some companies do offer discount to holders of RYA certificates.
